The Gardener
Meet your gardener
Tending the space between worlds
Teremoana was born and raised on Rarotonga, the largest of the Cook Islands, where she grew up mostly barefoot, feeling the earth through her feet in a home a short stroll from the lagoon. Each day her father climbed a coconut tree for a fresh nu, asking her in Cook Islands Māori, "Are you thirsty?" Life on the island had no fences, no streetlights, and no rush, and those early years live in her still.
Today she is the mother of two daughters, Samara and Lizah.
What it means
Teremoana, journey over the sea
Teremoana was named after her grandfather. Her name is Polynesian in origin, composed of tere (to travel or move) and moana (the sea), together a journey or voyage over the sea. She was given the name to honor the voyage her grandfather made to Tahiti, in a canoe he built himself, in search of their family genealogy.
It's a fitting name for a woman whose spirit of adventure and deep appreciation for the natural world have shaped every chapter of her life.
